PROJECT STATUS
The SMARTCARE project “Integrative Platform for Home Care Assistance Solutions” aimed to design, implement and test two home help applications, for which separate monitoring and alert scenarios have been defined. Both applications integrate devices for both telemedicine and environmental monitoring.
In order to achieve the highest possible user satisfaction, the development of the SMARTCARE project is based on a user-centric design that covers all its needs and preferences, be it the beneficiary, integrator or system administrator.
The system proposed in the project consists of three main components. The Gateway component has the role of communication and interface with vital parameters monitoring devices and home automation. The Expert System component is a cloud service that provides the functionality of intelligent information processing from the sensor network by defining and following monitoring and alerting rules. The last component, DeveloperUI, is a graphical user interface and is designed to make it easier to design solutions for specific home care applications.
SMARTCARE-PROJECT
The SMARTCARE project was imagined as the natural follow-up of the iLight (ilightproject.eu) system.
The SMARTCARE prototype developed within the project will be used for the design, implementation and testing of two home assistance applications, for which distinct monitoring and alert scenarios will be defined.
Both applications will integrate devices for telemedicine and monitoring the environmental parameters.
The aim is to adapt and integrate the i-Light (A pervasive home monitoring system based on intelligent luminaires) solution for monitoring the environmental parameters and to locate person inside their homes, along with the SIMAPS (Monitoring and assistance systems for people with special needs) and SIACT (Integrated communication and telemonitoring assistance system for people with severe neurodevelopmental disabilities) solutions for monitoring the physiological parameters.
Through these applications we aim to test and validate the prototype of the SMARTCARE platform developed within the project. The testing will consist of experiments performed in (real) operational environments under controlled operating conditions.
